A new home and a human for life

She told me everything would be alright, petting me, and holding me just right. It helped some, but I still cried the whole way.

Our destination was so little and so bare compared to my old place. There were no other animals or humans, no fence or garage.. just a big house on wheels. Mountains of red and tan rock seemed very close.
Maybe I was younger than my lady thought because right then I sure wanted to snuggle up to my mother and get some milk.

She took me into the building and gave me some milk in a bowl. Things were looking up!
Before you knew it, I was running around inside having a great time. It was nice to know that no coyotes could come in because she kept the door closed. We went outside together, and if I went too far, my lady would drag a stick in front of me. Somehow, I just had to go after it.
NW AZ nighttime scene
I did miss the stars outside at night, but she slept inside and I slept near her. We heard my mother disappeared just a few months after my adoption.
One day my lady decided to take me hiking. We walked a long ways from home, half the time with her carrying me on her shoulders. When she let me down, I was scared to let her get too far away. If she got out of sight, I would cry until she said something. At least then I knew she was near. Sometimes I would find somewhere to hide and she would have to come back and pick me up.
