We did it! We moved a full-grown olive tree from the city to our desert homestead. It went through a lot as we put our pea brains together and came up with a way to move a twenty year-old tree from a small courtyard over a five foot wall! It was too crowded there and close to the house so if we had not rescued it, her life would have been over.

Olive
Come out of depression
Make me your own
I sense you know me
You draw me with your breath, your life
I need you now as you now need me
We're in Sonora in whipping Spring winds But you've been through much more then that and you will survive
I will see that you thrive

This poem was written during the two months my transplanted olive tree had yet to show new growth. When doubt came, I only had to bask in her presence to feel her spirit and know it was just a matter of time.

Olive tree before moving it
Before the move, she was full of branches.

More on the olive tree move. My Sunset Western Gardening book assured me it could be moved with almost 100% surety of success! I tried to think my way out of it and almost called the givers numerous times to cancel. But I couldn't get around that inspite of the difficult location, I still wanted the tree and didn't want it to die.The new owners said when they moved in, it was covered with olives. Fruiting olive trees are illegal to plant new in Pima County, but you can transplant.

Monsoon mosquitoes take over warm evenings in the Sonoran Desert. Drought and fires continue. Hopefully, there will be heavy rains before it is all over.

If you need a good dentist and are willing to drive to Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.. I have a good one there now. I used to go to Baja outside of Tijuana so I was glad to find one near me I like.
