My
"blue whale" has died. This [detail of a] watercolor is
a tribute to it and the creatures using it for habitat. It left
a baby that is now more than a foot tall.
Once,
while watering it, I disturbed a very fast-moving giant centipede
5-6" long and twice had to remove one from the house. "A
painful but not dangerous bite" is how a book describes it..
that's also written about crab spiders and tarantulas which get
huge out here!

Sylvestre
is one of my three "wild beasts". With other gato, Max
and faithful dog Molly, they are all good companions, good hunters
and land protectors.
Do
I worry about coyotes, bobcats and other predators? Sure, sometimes
losing sleep trying to get them back inside, and wondering if
they are OK. Still, I think they are healhier and happier with
their indoor - outdoor life.
